2008 Radon Study Released

The Marble Institute of America has announced the conclusion of a four-month study of thirteen of the most popular granites used for kitchen countertops in the United States during 2007. The study shows conclusively that granite is a safe material for kitchens. READ MORE

The testing was done in a lab and the results were mathematically altered to estimate real world conditions. Testing needs to be done in a real house, while monitoring radon, radiation levels, and their source.

Found this in the CBS News yesterday! As a Solid Surface Shop I don't mind if everybody wants to take out their Granite Countertops... But it would be nice to get to the bottom of it, maybe if the tests would be done by some independent company. Done by the marble institute it sounds more like Exxon telling you that burning fossil fuels does not contribute to global worming...
